Hidhir's Work

Hidhir Badaruddin

Hidhir Badaruddin is a Singaporean photographer based in London whose practice engages questions of identity, queerness, and masculinity through the lens of a queer Southeast Asian subjectivity. His work interrogates dominant visual codes of beauty and power, centring softness, intimacy, and emotional tension within underrepresented bodies.

Spanning stylised portraiture, fashion, and personal narrative, Hidhir’s images operate as sites of resistance and reimagination. His practice positions photography as both cultural archive and speculative space, where visibility becomes an active, self-authored process rather than a fixed condition.

Hidhir was awarded the Getty Images Creative Bursary in 2021 and shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in 2024. In 2025, he was selected for the fifth edition of ReGeneration Gen Z and is exhibiting at Photo Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland. His work has been featured in Vogue India, Dazed, Gay Times, and Bricks Magazine.
