Serina's Work

Serina Lee is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of Chinese ink painting, fashion design, and digital fashion.
Her practice is distinguished by a unique synthesis of ancient Chinese painting and calligraphic principles with her design practice. This integration spans from conceptual ideation to technical drafting, focusing on lexicons, materiality, and the embedded meaning of movement within a stroke. Having studied Chinese painting since the age of seven, Lee has established a deep foundation in the medium, subsequently teaching and exhibiting her work internationally.
In her design practice, Lee prioritises artisanal craftsmanship, incorporating hand embroidery and hand-painted textiles inspired by ancient Chinese art. Her work bridges the gap between heritage and innovation by presenting both fashion and paintings within VR and digital environments.
Lee’s contributions to the field have earned recognition such as winning the Harper’s Bazaar Asia NewGen Fashion Award (2022) and the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery (2024). Her work continues to be featured in prominent publications and exhibitions.
